The Cleveland CBZ Wedge combines forgiveness, versatility, and premium feel in a modern cavity-back design. It’s made for golfers who want consistency and spin performance around the greens, while maintaining a softer, more responsive touch.
Design and Materials
The wedge uses Cleveland’s proprietary Z-Alloy steel, which is softer, lighter, and highly durable. This material gives the club a solid yet responsive feel. Its cavity-back structure provides more forgiveness than a traditional blade, helping players on off-center strikes.
Core and Performance Features
Inside the head, a low-density ZipCore moves the center of gravity closer to the impact area, increasing stability and control. The face features UltiZip grooves—sharper and deeper than standard designs—to improve spin and consistency, even from rough or sand. HydraZip technology, which includes a specialized face blast and laser-milled lines, enhances spin in wet or damp conditions.
A GelBack TPU insert behind the impact zone absorbs vibrations to improve feel, especially on mishits. Certain lofts also offer a Full-Face option, extending grooves across the entire face for more control on open-face and creative shots.
Who It’s For
The CBZ Wedge suits players who prefer forgiveness and ease of use without giving up feel. It blends well with modern cavity-back or hollow-body iron sets and works well for mid-handicap golfers or anyone seeking consistent spin and trajectory.
Things to Consider
Because it’s a more forgiving cavity-back wedge, some highly skilled players may find it less workable than a traditional blade. Choosing the right grind and bounce is important for matching your swing and turf conditions.
Summary
The Cleveland CBZ Wedge delivers a mix of forgiveness, control, and soft feel through advanced materials and design. It’s ideal for players who value consistent spin and reliable performance from all lies, with a look that fits seamlessly into a modern set.
